Hi, I'm Colin 👋 你好,我是 Colin 👋

Reader, note-taker, letter-writer

What this is 这是什么

Reads with Colin is a weekly letter on the books that change how you see the world — and what you do next. Every Thursday, one issue: a favorite passage, two quotes, a book of the week with two lessons to chew on, plus what I'm currently reading and a reading tip you can try this week. Five minutes to read; a week to think about.

It is not a book review. It is not a list. It is a letter from a friend — a weekly note on what I read, what I underlined, and what I'd like you to underline too.

Reads with Colin

Why I write

Reading is easy. Remembering is the work. The hardest part of a book is keeping what you underlined, applying it on a Tuesday afternoon, and letting the rest go.

This letter is my way of fighting "I read it and forgot." The best input is input with an output attached. Every week I take the sentences that hit me and rewrite them in my own words; wherever I can't, I haven't yet understood the book.

"Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider."
